The reality is that those traditional hallmarks of intelligence don’t mean as much to your career as you might think now. According to Cambrigde Dictionary, Attitude is defined as “a predisposition or a tendency to respond positively or negatively towards a certain idea, object, person, or situation.” In a Stanford research, psychologist Carol Dweck claim that “career success was tied more closely to a worker’s mindset over his IQ”. She found that employees’ core attitudes tend to fall into one of two mindset: “fixed” and “growth”. With fixed mindsets, people believe that their self is already set, and can’t be changed by the everyday work experience. In other words, they always have problems with challenges or obstacles, regardless of their intelligence. However, employee with growth mindsets take challenges as a way to learn something new, they see obstacles as opportunities, and believe that they can grow with each obstacle they navigate and they can improve with effort. These growth-minded people tend to outperform those with a fixed mindset even when they have a lower IQ.
According to Carol Dweck, success in life is all about how you deal with failure, like a growth – minded person “Failure is information - we label it failure, but it’s more like, ‘This didn’t work, and I’m a problem solver, so I’ll try something else.’” This positive attitude is important and it could also help you develop a growth mindset. Following the below-mentioned strategies, you can improve or develop the right mentality and a growth mindset that build up your attitude for anything you do
Don’t stay helpless and stop complaining when things don’t go your way
We all hit moments in life when we feel helpless. The importance is how we react to that bad feeling. We can either let it drag us down or learn from it and move forward. You can see Henry Ford had two failed car companies prior to succeeding with Ford manufacture company. People with a growth mindset don’t feel helpless because they know that in order to achieve their goals, they need to be willing to fail and bounce right back.
Be passionate
There’s always going to be someone who is blessed enough to get smarter than the others, but what you lack in talent, you can make up for in passion.
Take action
You might believe that some people are able to overcome their fears because they are braver than the rest of us; They aren’t. It’s just that they know the fear which is paralyzing emotions and that the best way to overcome this paralysis is to take action.
