According to Vietnam News, it is estimated that about 80,000 new staff will be needed in Ho Chi Minh region for the second quarter of 2018. This is due to the key policy to improve the competitiveness and growth quality of the city.
The steady rise in national demand
From January 2018 up to now, almost 6,000 new enterprises have been founded in Ho Chi Minh city, thus requiring more demand in human resources. This is according to the latest publication of Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information.
It is also reported that the total demand for new staff in the first quarter of 2018 is 72,000, which is a rise of almost 40 percent compared to the same period of 2017.
Among all fields in the market, the majority of new vacancies in the second quarters are forecasted to be in services, sales and marketing, logistics and textile-footwear.
The Head of Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information, Ms Tran Thi Anh Dao said in an interview with Vietnam Economic Times that the city will continue to improve the business environment and stimulate the activities of start-ups. However, high recruitment demand also aims for senior and middle-level managers, increasingly requesting more highly skillful and well trained employees.
At the moment, there is a competition in recruitment market among enterprises for top positions working in high-tech fields such as IT, construction, automation and architecture. The headhunting business for mechanical and electrical engineer also soars in the next 3 months. First screening criteria for those positions involving certificates from reputable universities and institutes, as well as in-depth related experiences.
Therefore, many international organizations have developed co-operating programs to with top universities such as HCM City University of Technology and the Industrial University of HCM to provide internship program as a way to get future labor source.
Final year students are now the recruitment target for international firms. There has been a significant rise in supervisor trainee program, which provide 1-year training package to fully trained fresh graduate into supervisor within 1 year.
