1. Business and tourist visas
Foreign nationals from one of more than 50 countries that Japan allows temporary visa exemption only need a valid passport to enter Japan as a tourist or business. Those with temporary visas will be allowed to stay in Japan for a maximum of 90 days. Foreigners with temporary visas are not allowed to participate in business or purchase. However, it is still possible to take short-term courses at Japanese language schools. All foreign tourists must carry a passport at all times.
Currently, there are many Vietnamese workers who illegally participate in in this form to get a work permit visa. Applying for a tourist visa and then fleeing outside to work greatly affects the Vietnamese community living in Japan. If caught by the Japanese police, you will no longer be able to return to Japan again.
2. Labor visa
Foreigners wishing to work in Japan need a work visa from a local Japanese embassy or Consulate in order to enter Japan as a work permit visa. There are more than 12 types of work visas, each of which allows its owners to work in different types of businesses and fields, such as journalists, arts, research, education and technology, entertainment, business administration, international services, ...
If you change jobs while you are in Japan and your new job is not in the authorized labor field (for example from education to technology), you need to change the visa type. College degrees or professional qualifications will be required when applying for a work visa.
The person who wants to apply for a work visa must be accepted by a Japanese company or have a guarantor. Work visas are usually issued for terms of 1 or 3 years and can be extended.
3. Student visa
Foreigners wishing to study in Japan (Except for short-term language courses), need a student visa issued by Japanese Embassy or Consulate in order to enter Japan as a stay Long-term study abroad.
There are many types of student visas, distinguished by the type of study (pre-university, university, cultural exchange program ...). To receive a student visa, a confirmation of the school and proof of financial ability throughout the course of study will be needed.
The duration of a student visa can be extended from 3 months to 4 years 3 months depending on the program of study. International students are not allowed to participate in wage work, unless they are licensed by the Immigration Bureau. In case of having a license, they can only work within the prescribed time limit (not more than 28 hours / week).
