Skills required
  • Minimum 2 years as sales manager in Automotive Field.
  • Good knowledge of cars.

What you will do
  • Undertake prospecting using the dealership system to generate additional enquiries/opportunities.
  • Identify, manage and follow-up suitable sales prospects of the quality and quantity per period agreed with the General Manager.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations and effectively carry out the sales process in order to achieve maximum sales and profit from each sales opportunity.
  • Review each selling experience in order to continuously improve performance and results.
  • Clearly and accurately impart information to customers on features and benefits, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of vehicle models both new and used, particularly for those in stock and for new model launches.
  • Ensure all new and used vehicles are effectively displayed and carry the required information on pricing etc.
  • Record each sales opportunity, contact and follow-up accurately using the agreed process and procedure.
  • Update details of all vehicle transactions accurately in accordance with the agreed process and procedure.
  • Report sales performance to the General Manager to the standards agreed in terms of method, frequency and content.
  • Engage in sales and marketing activity, including launches and promotions, offering ideas and supporting broader initiatives to drive interest and sales.
  • Maintain awareness of competitors’ products, prices and specifications.
  • Contribute to achieving the appropriate stock profile in accordance with directions given by the General Manager.
  • Identify and nurture relationships with affinity partners.
  • Ensure that all invoices, statements and other information given to customers are accurately and clearly communicated.

Other responsibilities:

  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction whilst maximising profits.
  • Ensure that all customers are received promptly, courteously and professionally at all times.
  • Complete all transactions handling customer queries within the time and quality standards agreed, ensuring customer feedback is passed to the appropriate person.
  • Handle dissatisfied customers calmly and in a timely manner, resolve complaints with sensitivity, involve others when needed.
  • Achieve maximum customer satisfaction and retention through delivering excellent service in relation to customers’ individual requirements, reviewing each experience to identify how improvements could be made.
  • Ensure pre-delivery inspections and any sanctioned repairs/servicing are carried out prior to delivery to the customer, communicating any variations from expectations in a timely and appropriate manner to the customer.
  • Introduce any new customers to other departments as appropriate.
  • Maintain effective liaison with all dealership staff, seeking assistance from colleagues as required, eg. to aid technical explanations
  • Uphold the highest standards of housekeeping within work area, showroom, vehicle displays, accessories, promotional material etc.
  • Support the whole dealership team, working in partnership to maximise opportunities to gain sales customers and to support broader dealership initiatives, proactively promoting the benefits of other departments to achieve overall dealership success.
  • Achieve and exceed all personal sales targets, including profitability targets, margins and expenditure control in accordance with business plans and agreement with the Sales Manager, including sales of financial and insurance products, added value items, extras and accessories.
  • Receive and process payments promptly and in accordance with company procedures, prior to the release of goods/vehicles, reporting any potential issues to the General Manager as required.
  • Negotiate sales in accordance with pricing policies, within set parameters, including discounts and trade-in dealing in order to maintain dealership profitability whilst achieving customer satisfaction.
  • Attend training as required or requested by the manufacturer, the dealership or the company.
  • Comply with all health and safety, quality management, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with all dealership and company policies, manufacturer guidelines and wider legislation.
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as requested.
